Ans:RADIO LINK CONTROL and L2 position, its stand in between MAC and PDCP.

    2.   What are the basic function of RLC?
    Ans: Functions are:
    (i)                  Concatenation and segmentation of RLC SDUs
    (ii)                 ARQ for retransmission
    (iii)                Buffered the data.

    3.   Name of 3 Entities of RLC Layer?
Ans:  3 Entities of RLC Layer are:
    (i)                  Transparent Mode
    (ii)                 Unacknowledged Mode
    (iii)                Acknowledged Mode

    4.   For which services which entity is used?
Ans: Services which entity is used are:
    (i)                  RLC TM: Used at before RRC connection is established for PCCH,BCCH and CCCH channel
(ii)                 RLC UM: Used at after RRC connection in established and deal with IP packets user data for DTCH channel
(iii)                RLC AM: Used for after RRC connection is establishedand deals with  DCCH and DTCH channel

    5.   Describe header formats of UMD PDU in RLC?
Ans: E=Extension (if 1=Next header present,0= No next header), R=Reserve, FI= Frame Indiactor(0=Start and Complete Stop here, 1= continue from previous TTI and move on to Next TTI),SN=Sequence Numbering, LI=Length Indicator, P=Padding.

    6.   What is Frame Indicator [FI] ? How much length it have in bits ? What are the possible indicators?
Ans: , FI= Frame Indiactor(0=Start from and Complete Stop in this TTI here, 1= continue from previous TTI and move on to Next TTI).
2 Bits in size and (00,01,10,11) are the possible values.

    7.   What is Last Indicator [LI] ?how much it's header length and message length?
Ans: Length Indicator is a data size available for a TTI and 11 bits in size.
    8.   What is SO_start and SO_end?
Ans: SO_start field indicate the position of the first byte of the portion of the AM PDU
SO_END indicate the position of the last byte of the portion of the AM PDU.
    9.   What is polling bit? How is it managed?
Ans: Polling bit is used for indicate the reciever RLC for giving Status of recieved PDU. Its a manged by putting ‘P’ bit in a RLC AM header either 0 and 1.
    10.       If error is occur in AM mode where data copy is stored to overcome error?
Ans: Data stored in RLC buffer and indicated by ARQ.
