Q01. What is 5G NR? Why it’s need if we have 4G?

Ans. 5G NR is for 5th Generation New Radio. Which was first introduced in Release 15 3GPP specifications, and the requirement set by ITU's IMT-2016 and revised documents of ITU's IMT-2020.
4G and LTE-Advanced support up to 1 Gbps data rate. But it has spectrum, bandwidth and soon some limitations. To overcome these limitations we need a new technology that meets these requirements.
The table below deviates these changes:
    Difference-between-5G-and-4G

Q02. What are the limitations in 4G?

Ans. 4G has some limitations and it’s quite hard to full fill those requirment on 4G. The limitations of 4g and overcome those limitations please refer Q1. Table.

Q03. Explain 5G NR High Level Architecture?

Ans. If interviewer ask this tricky question then you have to explain only the Architecture between UE to Data Network via core. Please refer below image:
    5G-NR-High-Level-Architecture

Q04. Explain 5G NR Low Level Architecture?

Ans. In low level architecture we have to explain every core enitities with their interfaces: please refer the below image:
    5G-NR-Low-Level-Architecture

    Q05. What is Dual Connectivity?

Ans. In dual connectivity a ue have to connect 2 RAT like 4G eNB + 5G gNB core either EPC either 5GC.

    Q06. What is MRDC?

Ans. Multi-Radio Dual Connectivity (MR-DC) is a generalization of the Intra-E-UTRA Dual Connectivity (DC) described in TS 38.300.
    • where a multiple Rx/Tx UE may be configured to utilise resources provided by two different nodes connected via non-ideal backhaul,
    • one providing NR access and the other one providing either E-UTRA or NR access.
    • One node acts as the MN and the other as the SN.
    • The MN and SN are connected via a network interface and at least
    • the MN is connected to the core network.
    • If MR-DC connect with the EPC then deploy network called:
      1. EN-DC (refer Que no. 6 to know more)
    • if MR-DC connect with the 5GC then deploy network called:
      1. NGEN-DC (NG-RAN E-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity)
      2. NE-DC (NR-E-UTRA Dual Connectivity)

    Q07. What is ENDC?

Ans. ENCD stands for E-UTRA-NR Dual Connectivity (EN-DC), in which
    • a UE is connected to one eNB that acts as a MN.
    • a UE is connected to one en-gNB that acts as a SN.
    • The eNB is connected to the EPC via the S1 interface.
    • The en-gNB is connected to the EPC via the S1-U interface
    • eNB connected to the eNB as well as to en-gNB via the X2 interface.
    • en-gNBs connected to en-gNBs via the X2-U interface.

    Q08. What is NRDC?

Ans. NG-RAN supports NR-NR Dual Connectivity (NR-DC), in which
    • A UE is connected to one gNB that acts as a MN and another gNB that acts as a SN.
    • The master gNB is connected to the 5GC via the NG interface and to the secondary gnb via the Xn interface.
    • The secondary gNB might also be connected to the 5GC via the NG-U interface.
    • Addition Note: NR-DC can also be used when a UE is connected to two gNB-DUs, one serving the MCG and the other serving the SCG, connected to the same gNB-CU, acting both as a MN and as a SN.
